Need help with choppy playback on wnidows 7 browsers (Firefox/IE)

Hi everyone,

I am running windows 7 64-bit with Firefox 19.0 and IE 9.0. My current flash player version is 11.6.602.171.

When I view flash videos, they play fine in a window, but as soon as I make the video full screen it becomes choppy and the sounds clicks and skips making the video unwatchable. CPU is at about 25% (so about 100% of a single core). I do not experience this issue with any other embedded videos, youtube, bluray, etc. I have the latest drivers for my video and sound cards. This problem persists on both IE and firefox.

I have tried enabling/disabling hardware acceleration to no effect. I have also tried deleting cached data (flash player settings -> storage -> delete all). An example of a video where this problem is particularly bad is here: http://www.c-span.org/Events/Fed-Chairman-Appears-Before-House-Cmte-on -State-of-the-Economy/10737438367-1/

I'm at a bit of a loss, so if you could provide some tips in addition to what I have already done, that would be great. I suspect the problem is that the video is maxing out a single core and for some reason isn't making use of the rest of the CPU like other non-flash videos do. This problem persists across many flash videos but no other types of video, so I don't think it's related to any individual website, but flash itself.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please don't link to existing guides which only contain the steps I have already outlined.

My system specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200

4GB RAM

Windows 7 64-bit professional

Geforce 9800 GTX (driver version 314.07)

Firefox Shockwave flash plug-in 11.6.602.171
