I just reinstalled Flash Player 11.6.602.180 on my 32-bit XP system running IE8. I followed the advice on the Adobe web site and deleted any artifacts of the previous installation of the Flash Player. However, when I attempt to play a YouTube video, I get the video just fine but there is no sound. I verified the Windows audio settings by playing audio files using the Windows Media Player. Clearly, the problem is with the Flash Player. I played the HTML5 and non-HTML5 videos with the same results as other YouTube files i.e. NO AUDIO!!
I uninstalled QuickTime and have cleaned the registry in an attempt to eliminate the problem. None of my efforts have produced any positive results. I have spent about 20 hours on this issue so far and I am really getting frustrated.
Obviously, I am not the only user who has encountered this problem.
If anyone using a 32-bit XP system with IE8 has gotten version 11.6 to work, I would really appreciate some insight.
