Using Flash to play .swf

I've installed Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.94 on my Mac (Mac OS 10.7.5; browser: Safari) and now would like to set it as default to play .swf files.  However, it does not appear in my Applications when I try to set the default program.  Where is it and how can I set it as the default program to run .swf files?
