Flash player suddenly stopped working in Google Chrome for Windows 8

I'm currently using WIndows 8 Surface Pro Chrome version

Today all of a sudden a message popped up stating "Adobe Flash Player only works on the desktop. [Relauch Chrome] [Don't ask again]" which is strange since yesterday there was no problem and this morning there were no issues either. I've had this Surface Pro for at least 3 months now and I haven't had one problem with Chrome until today.

Recently I haven't installed any new programs etc. and my flash player is up to date.

So far I have tried to solve this problem by using the following:

1. going into plugins, disabling, closing browser, reopening browers, re-enabling flash player = no change

2. Same process as no.1 but restarting the computer as well = no change

3. Installing firefox, installing Flash Player, disabling built in flash player, enable installed flash player, restart browser = no change

4. Re-installing Chrome for Windows 8 = no change

I am aware if I launch in desktop mode everything that requires flash will function correctly, however the quality is much lower than the in-app Windows 8 Chrome and I am not content to settle with the desktop version if I had no problems with it just this morning. Especially after the price I paid for this Surface Pro as well.

Chrome, Flash Player and Windows are all up to date.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I've been on every support page imaginable and I'm just not finding the answers I need.

Thank you,

Krissyy.
